ROSEDALE — Richard Eugene “Rick” Wallace, 63, of Rosedale, passed away at 7:22 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 1, 2010, in the emergency room at Union Hospital of Clinton. He was born Nov. 3, 1946, in Terre Haute, the son of John F. (Fred) Wallace and Mona I. Beltz Wallace.
Survivors include his wife, Effie Boesiger Wallace; two sons, Richard N. Wallace of Terre Haute, and John F. Wallace of Rosedale; a daughter, Brandy Wallace of Rosedale; two stepsons, Edward D. (Martha) Schaffer, and Shawn L. (Laura) Schaffer, all of Terre Haute; a brother, Anthony (Barbara) Wallace of Princeton; five granddaughters, three grandsons, three nieces; one nephew, and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents.
He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War, and was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5975 of Marshall, Ill. He earned an associates degree in petroleum technology from Lincolnland College, in Robinson, Ill. He was formerly employed as a mechanic by Tennant’s of Terre Haute.
Services in honor of his service to his country will be 7 p.m. CDT Wednesday at Pearce Funeral Home, 314 S. Sixth St., in Marshall, Ill., conducted by VFW Post 5975, Clark County Post 90 American Legion, and Amvets. Visitation is 4 p.m. until services Wednesday, at the funeral home. Cremation will follow services. Memorial contributions may be made to the Richard E. Wallace Memorial Fund.
