Virginia Kay Cash, 69, of Rosedale, died Sunday, Sept. 30, 2012, in her residence. She was a retired schoolteacher having worked in Bridgeton and Rosedale Schools. She was born March 29, 1943, in Terre Haute, to the late Samuel Thomas Sumner and Gladys Slavens Sumner.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, Claude Raymond Cash, whom she married July 30, 1961, and died September of 1994. Survivors include two daughters, Laura (Joey) Bennett of Terre Haute, and Cherri (Charlie) Rutan of Rosedale; two sisters, Linda (John E.) Vanatti and Sandy (Jerry) Sears, all of Terre Haute; two grandsons, Drew and T.J. Rutan; one niece, Rita (Dana) Southern; two nephews, John S. Vanatti and Tom (Holli) Rudolph; several great-nieces and nephews. She also was preceded in death by a nephew, Bruce Vanatti.
She was a 1966 graduate of Fontanet High School and received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees at Indiana State University. She was a member of Sigma Sorority, OLLI, and a Lifeline volunteer. She loved to travel and spend time with her grandsons.
Services will be 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 5, 2012, at Cottrell-Gooch Funeral Home, 287 N. Main Street, in Rosedale, with the Rev. Bill Herb officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Cemetery at Terre Haute. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012, at the funeral home.
