TERRE HAUTE —
Robert Charles Higgins, 67, of Terre Haute, passed away Saturday, June 8, 2013, in Springhill Village Nursing Center. Bob (RC) was born Aug. 24, 1945, in Terre Haute, to Arthur and Alice Lacy Higgins. Bob spent most of his adult years as a paramedic for the Terre Haute Fire Department, as well as being an honorably discharged member of the U.S. Air Force.
After his retirement, Bob was very involved with local veteran events, taking pride serving the veteran’s needs as a member of the Honor Guard of the American Legion Post 346. Bob also was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Posts 972, and 6574, AMVETS Post 222, and a member of the Voiture 21 40&8 Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his daughter, Tamy Higgins of Jefferson City, Mo.; one sister, Ginger Higgins Rocks of Phoenix, Ariz.; a niece, Angela VerSteeg and husband Brandon of Phoenix; one aunt, Janie Elder, two uncles; Fred and Tom Isbell, all of Terre Haute; two great-nephews, Cooper and Mason; and his longtime companion, Jenny Dixon of Terre Haute. Bob also is survived by many other friends, family, and loved ones.
Funeral services for Bob will be Friday, June, 14, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Greiner Funeral Home, 2005 N. 13th St., with Chaplain Gary Steward officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park, with military honors performed by American Legion Post 346. Visitation will be Thursday, June 13, 2013, from 4 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations be made to the American Veterans Administration (AMVETS).
