Eurico J. Ferreira

Dr. Eurico J. Ferreira, age 75, of Terre Haute, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 2, 2014.  The son of Maria and Orlando Ferreira, he is survived by mother, Maria; sister, Maria; children, Ana, Eurico Jr. and Claudio; and grandchildren, Sebastian, Daniel, Sofia, and Nathaniel.

Eurico received his B.S. Mechanical Engineering degree from the Federal University of Brazil, M.B.A. from the Pontifica Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro, and his Ph.D. from the University of South Carolina. He was a beloved Finance Professor at Indiana State University dedicating endless time to the development of his students and the school of business. Through student organizations, he took students on regular trips to the New York Stock Exchange, the Chicago Board of Trade. Eurico’s record of research and publications continuously kept the name of Indiana State University visible in respected journals. The family would like to thank the IU Hospital-North medical staff for their love and devotion provided to Eurico throughout his stay. The family also wished to thank Amber Downey for the love and tender caring of Eurico during these last few months.

Eurico loved to dance, and Terre Haute's Apple Club patrons and staff will surely miss his presence on the weekends. Eurico loved to spend time with his grandchildren. He was a dedicated father, teacher, and brought out the best in those whose lives he touched.

A celebration mass and luncheon will take place on Saturday, Jan. 18, 2014, starting at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph’s University Parish in Terre Haute.

Linnea graduated with honors from Reelsville High School in 1962 and retired from the accounting department at Forrest Sherer in 2009.
