Margie Imogean ‘Jeanie’ McCarty

PARIS, ILL. — PARIS, Ill. — Margie Imogean “Jeanie” McCarty, 82, of Paris, Ill., passed away at 7:50 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014, at Paris Healthcare Center after over a year’s battle with cancer.

She was born April 20, 1931, in Dolson Township, Ill., to the late Emil and Florence (Miller) Garver. She was the sixth child of 11 children. She married Paul McCarty on Jan. 26, 1952, in Marshall, Ill. He preceded her in death on Aug. 8, 1999.

She was a devoted wife, friend and loving mother to her surviving seven children, Dale (Sue) McCarty of Paris; Judy (Donnie) Lorance of Vermilion, Ill.; Kitty (Bob) Thompson of Paris; Donna Malone of Paris; Rick (Diane) McCarty of Toledo, Ill.; David (Tracey) McCarty of Paris; and Rex McCarty of Marshall. She is also survived by three brothers, John (Luann) Garver of Rockford, Ill.; Billie (Linda) Garver of Argos, Ind.; and Donnie (Teresa) Garver of Clinton, Ind.; a sister, Betty Spesard of Paris; two sisters-in-law, Maxine Kirby of Kansas, Ill; and Beverly McCammon of Dana, Ind.; a brother-in-law, Lee McCarty of Dana; 23 grandchildren, Susanna Patterson, Scott (Cheryl) Lorance, Robby Thompson, Heathe Thompson, Amanda (Damon) Dorjahn, Tammy Malone, Andrew Malone, Jeremie McCarty, Zach McCarty, Tabitha (Dennis) Fiscus, Justin McCarty, Shelbee (Chris Johnson, Courtney Connour, Levi Connour, Charity (Matt) Jackson, Chelsea McCarty, Damian McCarty, Brittany Crunk, Jessica Twigg, Allisha McCarty, Jacob (Hollie) McCarty, Latasha Henderson and Nicole Hitchings; 17 great-grandchildren, Neila Patterson, Brandon Lorance, Colton Lorance, Raven Thompson, Corey Thompson, Faith Thompson, Seth Davidson, Cail McCarty, Aiden McCarty, Payton Howard, Zoe Connour, Connor Crunk, Maddison Crunk, Ava McCarty, Wyatt McCarty, Weston McCarty and Bailey Murphy; and many loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Harry Garver; five sisters, Mary Ethel Robinson, Marthell Mercer, Elizabeth Knight, Katherine Carpenter and Dorothy Hulfachor; and three great-grandchildren, Donovan Patterson, Chloe Jesko and Olivia Johnson.

The family wishes to thank Jeanie’s special friends and caring neighbors at the Paris High Rise who made her life easier during these trying times and over the 20 years she lived there.

For those who wish, the family suggests that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society.

Interment will be private in Vermilion Cemetery at a later date. Templeton Funeral Home of Paris is in charge of arrangements.
