Louise (Rogers) Eppert

BRAZIL — BRAZIL — Louise (Rogers) Eppert, 72, of Brazil, passed away on Jan. 2, 2014, in her home with her family by her side.

She was born April 16, 1941, in Clay County, and was the daughter of the late William B. Rogers and Edith (Westfall) Rogers. She graduated in 1959 from Staunton High School.

Louise married the late Gerald “Jerry” Lee Tipton on July 1, 1960, the father of her children Mike and Jean. She married the late Dr. John “Doc” Wayne Eppert Jr. on Feb. 9, 1974.

She had several jobs in her community, including the Seelyville Veterinary Clinic, the owner of Gabby’s restaurant and ran the American Legion #2 restaurant. Her hobbies included gardening, fishing, cooking, her love of chocolate, traveling and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and family. She was a previous member of the Brazil Elks Lodge, the American Legion Local #2, the Eagles, past president of the Ladies Seelyville Auxiliary Fire Department, Seelyville United Methodist Church, and volunteered for the 14th and Chestnut Community Center.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her sister Betty Mae (Rogers) Brown, sister-in-law Joanne Rogers and niece Debra Louise (Tanner) Hicks.

Louise is survived by her children, Michael Jay Tipton, Jean Ann (Tipton) Slack and Eric Burns; stepchildren, John W. Eppert III and Nancy, Michelle McCrea and Kevin, Cindy Cunningham and Darryl, Patricia Wiley and Chuck, and Sandra Shawver and David; her grandchildren, Curtis, Jessica, Lakeisha, Samuel, Matthew, Hunter, Destiny, Hannah, John, Erin, Jessica, Laura, Kendra, Cali, Shiloh, Cami, Jessie, Skye, Hillary, Cody, Clint, Cole and Charlotte; 30 great-grandchildren; brother William “Buck” Rogers; sister Mary Helen (Rogers) Tanner and Bill; sister Delores Bridgewater and Mike; brother John Rogers and Karin; and brother-in-law Kenneth Brown; as well as several nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.

Services will be at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2014, at Lawson-Miller Chapel with Tom Hess officiating. Burial will follow at Clearview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Donations in her memory may be made to the 14th and Chestnut Center, 1403 Chestnut St., Terre Haute, IN 47807.
