Mary Frances Elwood, 84, Terre Haute, went to be with the Lord with her family by her side at 6:59 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 15, 2013. She was born in Bethel, Ky., to the late William and Grace (Cory) Vice.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward “Gene” Elwood; and two stepsons, Michael and Steve Elwood.
Survivors include two daughters, Sandra (the late Michael) Young of Lewisport, Ky., and Patricia (Bruce) Tracy of Terre Haute; a sister, Thelma (Wilburn) Hornback of Dayton, Ohio; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; stepbrother, William “Bill” (Rosemary) Everman of Marion; brother-in-law, John Elwood of Portland; and several nieces and nephews.
She previously worked in sales and attended Union Christian Church. Mary Frances was a 1948 graduate of Bethel High School, where she graduated as class valedictorian. She enjoyed painting, sewing, flower arranging and gardening.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 19, 2013, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., in Marion. Burial will be in Grant Memorial Park, Marion.
