John Kile Kannmacher

MARTINSVILLE, Ill. — John Kile Kannmacher, 89, of Martinsville, died Monday, April 23, 2007, at Union Hospital in Terre Haute, Ind. He was born Dec. 19, 1917, in Anderson Township in Clark County, to Harry and Edith Kile Kannmacher.

Survivors include his wife, Marge Richey Kannmacher, whom he married March 6, 1939; one daughter, Sharon Scott and her husband Warren of Martinsville; two grandchildren, Julie Hackney and her husband Kenny, and Vince Scott and his wife Carla, all of Martinsville; four great-grandchildren, Cameron and Jaycee Hackney, and Emily and Connor Scott; three sisters, Dorothy Tingley and husband Carl of Hutsonville, Kay Everhart of Toledo, Ill., and Vivian Seeburger and husband John of Indianapolis; and one sister-in-law, Mame Kannmacher of Indianapolis. He was preceded in death by one brother, Dale Kannmacher

He was a graduate of Martinsville High School and was a member of Island Grove Baptist Church. He had worked in the steel Industry in Gary, Ind., and retired from Rowe Foundry in Martinsville, as labor foreman. He had worked at the foundry from 1944 to 1981. During this time, he also farmed his family farm. After retirement, he enjoyed working in his garden and being with his family, especially going to his grandchildren’s and great-grandchildren’s sporting events.

Services are 10:30 a.m. CDT Thursday in Greenwell Funeral Home, with the Rev. Billie Ray Ulrey officiating. Burial is in Ridgelawn Cemetery. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. Memorial contributions may be made to Island Grove Baptist Church or Martinsville Bible Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
