PARIS, IL —
James Ross Boyer, 72, of Paris, passed away at 10:35 a.m. Monday, Oct. 8, 2012, at Twin Lakes Rehab & Health Care in Paris. He was retired after more than 25 years as a clerk for the Pennsylvania Railroad. He was born June 5, 1940, in Paris, the son of the late Wilber and Dorothy (Bright) Boyer. He married Loretta Poole on Feb. 14, 1997, in Effingham, Ill., and she survives.
Other survivors include three stepdaughters, Rene (Curtis) Miller of Cambria, Wis., Rochelle (Scott) Miller of Ainsworth, Iowa, and Annette (Kelly) Spires of Marshall, Ill.; two sisters, Rosalie Garvin of Paris and Phyllis A. Davidson of Chrisman, Ill.; seven stepgrandchildren; four nephews; and two nieces.
Mr. Boyer was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. A member of the Lionel Collectors Club of America, and he was an avid model railroad enthusiast. He also was an accomplished coin collector.
Services celebrating his life will be conducted at 7 p.m. CDT Friday, Oct. 12, 2012, at Templeton Funeral Home in Paris. Military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 211 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3601. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until service time Friday at the funeral home.
