Gertrude “Gertie” M. Ray, 95, of Indianapolis, passed away Sunday, April 21, 2013. She was born Oct. 16, 1917, in Terre Haute, to the late Frank and Mabel MeNeely Blair. Gertie married Clifford E. Ray, and he preceded her in death. She was employed with Curtis-Wright Mfg., Indiana Bell, Mill & Parrot Bakery in Terre Haute, and retired from the cafeteria at Arsenal Tech High School.
Gertie was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, where she was a former Board of Trustee, a member of the Methodist Women’s Association and White Cross Guild.
Gertie is survived by her son, Ronald E. (Beverly) Ray; nieces, Sue (Jim) Rick, Barbara (Pat) Ropp, and JoAnn Bennett. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Hazel Mallett and Verna Hauck.
Visitation will be Thursday, April 25, 2013, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 12 noon at Shirley Brothers Washington Memorial Chapel, 9606 E. Washington St., Indianapolis. Memorial contributions may be made to Indiana United Methodist Children’s Home, 515 W. Camp St., Lebanon, IN 46052.
