CLAY CITY — Robert L. Wellman, 81, of Clay City, died on Saturday, April 13, 2013, at his winter residence in North Fort Myers, Fla.
Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Loretta Wellman; children, Robert W. Wellman (wife, Cheryl), Glen Wellman (wife, Jeana), John Wellman (wife, Marie), and Darlena Wellman Armpriester (husband, John); several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Also surviving is one sister, Rosemary Crouse (husband Ray).
Bob was a lifelong resident of Clay City and built hundreds of grain bins in the area, farmed for over 50 years and also owned Wellman Company grain elevator for 19 years. After retirement, they wintered in North Fort Myers, for 12 years, where he enjoyed fishing, playing chair volleyball, attending church, and visiting with friends and family.
Bob was a member of Full Gospel Assembly of God Church in Terre Haute, and also had attended the Assembly of God church in Clay City and Fort Myers, Fla. He served the church as deacon, treasurer, and also played the bass guitar.
Viewing will be at Schoppenhorst Funeral Home, in Clay City, on Friday, April 19, 2013, from 4 to 8 p.m. The funeral service will be on Saturday, April 20, 2013, at Clay City Assembly of God church at 11 a.m. Interment will be at Maple Grove Cemetery.
