HYMERA — Glenn Edward Bedwell, 72, of rural Hymera, passed away Saturday, Nov. 16, 2013, at Terre Haute Regional Hospital. He was born in Sullivan County, Ind., April 16, 1941, the son of Gilbert Bedwell and Jennie Alumbaugh Bedwell Shepherd
Glen was a member of the United Methodist Church in Shelburn, a retired coal miner by trade having worked for several area mines. His greatest love was his family and many friends and neighbors.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and stepfather, Lester Shepherd.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Needra Kay Terhune Bedwell, Aug. 20, 1960; one son, Luke Bedwell of Jasonville; two daughters, Kelly Napier (Graydon) of Linton, and Amy Bedwell (Calvin Rhodrick) of Jasonville; two brothers, Max Bedwell (Jeanie) of Salem, and Ronald Bedwell (Karen) of Encampment, Wyo.; three grandchildren, Marcus Napier (Roxy Moore), Nick Napier, and Nickole Napier; two sisters-in-law, Jane Simmons of Sullivan, and Martha Goodman of Dugger; two brothers-in-law, John Terhune (Sandra) of Arizona, and Ben Thompson of Dugger; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2013, at 6 p.m. at Newkirk’s Funeral Home, Third and Main St., in Dugger, with Pastor Bond Ford officiating. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until services Wednesday. In lieu of flower, donations may be made to St. Judes Children’s Hospital or the Salvation Army.
