Kenneth Leon Snellenberger

CLAY CITY — CLAY CITY — Kenneth Leon Snellenberger, 84, of Clay City, passed away at Glenburn Nursing Home, in Linton, on Dec. 14, 2013, following a lengthy illness. Kenny was born at home, in Clay City, on March 31, 1929, the son of Revell and Floy Mamie (Everwine) Snellenberger. He graduated from Clay City High School with the class of 1947. He spent many years of his life farming. He also worked at the Brick and Block factory in Brazil, for a period of time, as well as at IBM, in Greencastle, from where he retired in 1987, after 31 years.

Kenneth married Betty Cuvelier of Linton, on June 19, 1949. She preceded him in death on Oct. 31, 2013, after 64 years of marriage. He also was preceded in death by his parents.

Kenny loved playing the steel guitar in church and with gospel singing groups. He also enjoyed his cattle, riding motorcycles, gardening and working hard. He was a member of the Assembly of God, where he had served as the superintendent for several years. Kenneth was also a member of the Green County Gospel Music Association.

He is survived by his son, David Snellenberger and wife LaVerne of Fort Wayne; a daughter, Donna Myers and husband Jimmie of Clay City; grandchildren, Kimberley Sheets and husband Jeromy of Goshen, Chrissa Yaden and Israel Yaden, both of Bloomington; great-grandchildren, Kaden Sheets and Braxten Sheets; two sisters, Loretta Wellman and Mazie Verden; a brother, Cletus Snellenberger and wife Carol; as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2013, at Schoppenhorst Funeral Home. Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, with his brother, Cletus Snellenberger officiating. Burial will follow at Sink Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Gideon Bible Fund, P.O. Box 271, Brazil, IN 47834.
