Mary M. Allen

Mary M. Allen, 90, of Terre Haute, died Monday, Nov. 16, 2009, in Southwood Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born Dec. 4, 1918, in Brazil, Ind., to John Frew and Ruth James Frew. Mary was a retired secretary for the Naples Star newspaper in Naples, Fla., and Upjohn Corporation, retiring in 1994. She was preceded in death by her husband, Seibert J. Allen, on Nov. 15, 1968.

Survivors include two sons, John (Karen) Allen of Jacksonville, Fla., and Bruce Allen of Edwardsville, Ill.; one daughter, Patricia (Steve) Kostyo of Terre Haute; one brother, John (Jerry) Frew of Overland Park, Kan.; sister-in-law, Catherine Reynolds of Kirkland, Ariz.; four grandchildren, Jim (Tara) Allen, Brett (Kelly) Allen, Scott Allen, and Wendy Allen; three great-grandchildren, Peyton Allen, Kyle Allen, and Kayla Williams; special friends, Sheila Antoon and Barbara Allen; and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents; and two sisters, Jane Rigdon and Betty Riley.

Mary was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church. She graduated from Brazil High School. The family would like to thank Southwood and Vistacare for the wonderful care they gave Mary.

Funeral services will be conducted at 12 noon Saturday, Nov. 21, 2009, in Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 S. 25th Street, with the Rev. Paul Wagner officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation is scheduled prior to services from 9 a.m. until noon on Saturday.
