Ruby Hamblen Stableton Frey
Ruby Hamblen Stableton Frey, 94, of Terre Haute, passed away at 6:50 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 1, 2009, at The Waters of Clinton; She was born to Elzic and Mattie Hamblen on June 22, 1915, in Laurel County, Ky.
She is survived by one brother, Donnie Hamblen; one sister, Beulah Somers; three grandchildren, Brad and Jill Stott, Brian and Debra Stott, and Ben and Tricia Stott; eight great-grandchildren, Graham, Julietta, Dmitry, Svetlana, Reece, Tyler, Mason, all of these are Stott, and Rosa Kate Bowers and husband Mark; three great-great-grandchildren, Casey, Loagan, and Milana, all three are Bowers. She also had two stepsons, Eric Frey and Bruce Frey and their families.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Mack Stableton; and her second husband, Harry Frey; her parents, Elzic and Mattie Hamblen; one sister, Irene Morris; four brothers, Cecil, Earl, Carl and Connie, all of them are Hamblen; one daughter, Marilyn June Stott; and a grandson, Joel Brett Stott.
She was a member of the Woman’s Department Club, Order of the Eastern Star, and the Oberlander Club. She retired as co/owner of Stableton Iron and Gift Shop. She loved working in her yard, and she collected antiques her whole life.
Services are 11 a.m. Thursday at Mattox-Wood Funeral Home, 4660 Lafayette Ave. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. today. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to Meals on Wheels or the Alzheimer’s Association.
