Lois C. Drake Pound
Lois C. Drake Pound, 94, passed away at 4:20 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, 2008, at Southwood Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born Sept. 4, 1914, in Fairbanks, to Arthur and Elva Riggs Drake. She worked at Peoples State Bank in Fairbanks for 34 years, before retiring in 1983. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert H. “John” Pound, in 2001.
Survivors include her daughter, Anna Rose Hackney of Prairie Creek; a grandson, Allen Hackney Jr. and his wife Julia of Lafayette; a granddaughter, Amy Hansen and her husband Andrew of Statesboro, Ga.; a brother-in-law, Norman Drake of Fairbanks; and nieces, nephews and cousins. She also was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Loran, Lyndell, William and Laurel; and two sisters, Rachael and Lilia.
She was a member of Fairbanks Missionary Baptist Church, a 75-year member of Order of Eastern star, and a member of Past Matron’s Club.
Services are 11 a.m. Friday at DeBaun Springhill Chapel, 85 E. Springhill Drive, with the Rev. Kevin Dobson officiating. Burial is at Fairbanks Cemetery in Fairbanks. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
The family suggests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to a church of your choice; the Wabash Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross, 700 S. Third St., Terre Haute, IN, 47807; or Alzheimer’s Association of Greater Indiana, 50 E. 91st St., Suite 100, Indianapolis, IN 46240.
