Hazel Irene Redman
WESTFIELD, Ill. — Hazel Irene Redman, 89, of Westfield, Ill., passed away at 10:29 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, 2008, in Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center surrounded by her loving family. She was born on Dec. 23, 1918, in Casey, Ill., the daughter of Harry Franklin Davidson and Belva Jane Beasley Davidson. On June 29, 1940, she married Victor Pearl Redman, in Henderson, Ky. They shared 62 years of marriage before he passed away on Feb. 21, 2003.
Survivors include her four children; son, Dennis Redman and wife Diana; daughters, Sandra Lamb and husband Steve and Carolyn Paul and husband Bob; and son, Mark Redman, all of Westfield, Ill. She was adored by her 10 grandchildren, Shellie Keigley and husband Steve, Paula Blair and husband Tim, Jennifer Redman and fiancé Doug Duncan, Kim Vidoni and husband Chad, Jill Valdez and husband Oscar, Kylie Foster and husband Jeremy, April Isley and husband Chad, Jeff Redman and friend Kristy Livingston, Lindsay Redman and Julia Redman; and 16 great-grandchildren, all of whom she loved to spoil. She also is survived by brothers, Marion (Pete) Davidson and David Davidson; sisters, Lois Earhart, Ann Crites, Joan Elkins and Janice Crites; and sister-in-law, Elizabeth Sanders.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; four brothers; five sisters; and granddaughter, Megan Paul.
Hazel was a homemaker and a member of the Casey Church of God. Hazel’s kitchen was always full of food and life. Her door was always open. Her home cooking, noodles and donuts drew people into her home. They stayed for the lessons, laughter and wisdom. Everyone that entered was family and left with a smile. Hazel’s spunk, honesty and love molded and inspired all who were fortunate enough to have crossed her path. She will be missed everyday, but her spirit lives strong in the hearts of those who love her.
Funeral services celebrating her life are 10:30 a.m. CDT Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2008 in Markwell Funeral Home, in Casey, Ill., with the Rev. Gene Southard officiating. Burial is in Casey Cumberland Cemetery. Visitation is 4 to 7.m. today from in the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to American Cancer Society, 2509 South Neil St., Champaign, IL 61820. Markwell Funeral Home of Casey – Westfield is in charge of the arrangements.
