Jeannette R. Farrar Bock

Jeannette R. Farrar Bock, 84, of Terre Haute, died Friday, Sept. 5, 2008. She was born on Dec, 3, 1923, in St. Joe County, to Ewart W. Farrar and Olive Stull Farrar.

Survivors include her husband of 57 years, George Bock; son, Mark Bock and wife Dr. Jane Bridges of Vincennes; daughter, Melladee Bock of Anderson; grandchildren, Joshua, Jacob and Justin Boggs; two great-grandchildren; and sister, Marcella Guthrie of Terre Haute.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Robert “Bud” Farrar and William “Bill” Farrar; and sister, Kathryn Farrar.

She was a school teacher for 30 years in Columbia City, eight years in Walkerton, for grades 1 through 6; she retired from teaching in 1987. She attended Manchester College in North Manchester, 1944, and Indiana University, June 1965, where she earned her master’s in elementary education. She was a 50-year member of the Order of Eastern Star Chapter 319 in Walkerton, Past Worthy Matron, volunteer for Venice, Fla., elementary schools for 11 years, A.A.U.W. Indiana Retired Teachers Association, and the United Methodist Temple.

Funeral services are noon Wednesday in DeBaun Funeral Home, Springhill Chapel, 85 E. Springhill Drive, with Allen Rumble officiating. Burial is in Green Lawn Mausoleum in Fort Wayne. Visitation is 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday in the funeral home.
