Evelyn “Lucille” Steiner Dunigan

CLAY CITY — Evelyn “Lucille” Steiner Dunigan, 95, of Clay County, passed away at Cloverleaf Health Care in Brazil on July 30, 2009. She was born in Clay County, on Nov. 2, 1913 to Henry and Hulda Leohr. She worked as a cook at the Bowling Green School. She also worked in the cafeteria and laundry departments at the MacNell Nursing Home. Lucille married Herman Steiner who passed away Oct. 10, 1959. Later she married Thomas Dunigan who also preceded her in death. She was a member of the Bowling Green United Methodist Church. In her free time Lucille enjoyed quilting, crocheting and spending time with family and friends. She will be remembered for the beautiful flowers that she tended to daily.

She was preceded in death by her parents Henry and Hulda Leohr; husbands: Herman Steiner and Thomas Dunigan; sisters: Edith Loffland, Mary Harden, Edna Schiele; brothers: Glen Leohr, Harold Leohr and Kenneth Leohr.

Survivors include her sons: John Steiner and wife Mary Ruth of Terre Haute, Victor Steiner and wife Mary Jo of Bowling Green, Carl Steiner and wife Jane of Waveland and Richard Steiner and wife Jeanette of Clay City; daughter, Carolyn Keiser and husband Norman of Poland; 18 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; sisters, Agnes Dalton of Clay City, Blanche Leohr of Coal City; brother, Clarence Leohr of Clay City as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Services are 11 a.m. Monday at Schoppenhorst Funeral Home with the Rev. Myron James officiating. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will follow services at St. Peters Cemetery.
