Dorothy Jean Norder Bennett

Dorothy Jean Norder Bennett, 75, of Terre Haute, passed away in her home Tuesday, July 22, 2008. She was born on March 19, 1933, in Watseka, Ill., to Jacob and Catherine Eiler Norder. She graduated from Watseka Community High School. Dorothy worked at several different places throughout her life, and retired from IMC where she did data entry work. She was a loyal and devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

She has left behind a daughter, Roberta Dean of Terre Haute; two brothers, Reinhandt Norder of Cresent City, Ill., and LeRoy Norder; two sisters, Elaine Hustedt of Watseka, and Chris Meier and husband Gilbert of St. Louis; grandchildren, Robert L. Dean and wife Sandi, William E. Dean and wife Candi, Candy Dean, Charles Michael Dean and wife Erica; great-grandchildren, Christina Yaw, Josh Dean, Camisha Barnett, Charles Michael Dean II., Dylan A. Dean, Nicole Taylor, Eric Taylor, Tasha Taylor and Shawn Wooten and wife Heather. Other survivors include great-great-grandchildren, Jubilee and Liam Dean, Kinnidi Wooten, Kira Mae Wooten, Tyler Wooten, Gaige Burkhard, Zoe Roberts, and Aiden Harkness; a special nephew, Mark Houston; and several other nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her loving husband, Robert L “Cookie” Bennett, who passed away in 2003.

She loved her loyal dog, Prince, and loved gardening. She was a member of the Eagles Ladies Auxiliary in Brazil.

Services are 1 p.m. Saturday in Roselawn Funeral Home, 7500 N. Clinton Street. Burial is in Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. today in the Funeral Home.

I’d like the memory of me to be a happy one.

I’d like to leave an afterglow of smiles when life is done.

I’d like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways.

Of happy times and laughing times and bright sunny days.
