“Cam”eron Spencer Langenfeld

“Cam”eron Spencer Langenfeld, 11, of Terre Haute, died Sunday morning, June 3, 2007, of severe head injuries sustained when a car struck his bicycle. He was born on Nov. 21, 1995.

Survivors include his mother, Pamela K. (Langenfeld) Bird, and his father, Paul A. Langenfeld of Terre Haute. He had one brother, Cole Langenfeld at home; his grandparents, James and Marjorie Bird of Terre Haute, and Paul J. Langenfeld and Patricia Langenfeld of Clinton; one uncle, Michael and Jane Bird of Fishers; two aunts, Suzanne and Frank Lynn of Rosedale, and Samy Durfee of Ohio; and cousins, Matthew and Andrew Bird, and Casey, Jessie Matti, and Torey Lynn, and Dallas Durfee.

Cameron attended Riley Elementary School, and would have attended Honey Creek Middle School next fall. He loved soccer (particularly as goalie and defender), and loved Boy Scouts. He had been active in sports throughout his life including indoor and outdoor soccer, basketball, baseball, bowling, gymnastics, Quarter Midget racing, flag football, and football. He enjoyed swimming with his family, target shooting, fishing, roller coasters, camping, dirt bikes, hanging out with his friends, and riding his bike to and from his grandparents’ house (the same path where he was tragically killed). Most of all, he loved spending time with his family. Cam was a very giving boy and will continue to give through the donation of his organs.

Funeral arrangements have been made. Visitation will be today from 4 to 8 p.m., and the services are at DeBaun’s Springhill Chapel, 85 E. Springhill Drive, on Saturday at 1 p.m., followed by Cameron being buried at Oak Hill Cemetery in Riley. Donations may be made to the Cameron Langenfeld Memorial Fund at any Terre Haute Savings Bank branch location. A memorial donation may be made in Cam’s name to Riley Children’s Hospital in lieu of flowers.
