Margaret Wren Kerstiens

Margaret Wren Kerstiens, 91, of St. Mary-of-the-Woods, passed away at 5:35 p.m. Thursday, May 15, 2008, in Meadows Manor North in Terre Haute. She was born in St. Mary-of-the-Woods, on July 4, 1916, the daughter of Maurice Wren and Anna Murphy Wren.

Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Paul A. Kerstiens, whom she married on Oct. 5, 1942, in San Francisco; and a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and six brothers, Joseph, Michael, James, John, Leonard, and Maurice.

She was a lifelong member of St. Mary’s Village Catholic Church where she was active with the choir. She was a graduate of St. Joseph’s Academy and Terre Haute Commercial College. She had been employed with Glenn North Construction Company and Shelton Hannig Construction Company, retiring in 1978.

Mass of Christian Burial was Monday, May 19, 2008, in St. Mary’s Village Catholic Church, with Father Bernard Head officiating. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery in Terre Haute. Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, 220 N. Third St., in West Terre Haute, assisted with arrangements. The family suggests that, if friends so desire, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church Galvin Fund, with envelopes available in the funeral home.
