Patrick O’Leary, 71, of Terre Haute, passed away Friday, May 9, 2008. He was born Feb. 18, 1937, in Terre Haute, to Charles Patrick O’Leary and Rose Therese Bader O’Leary. Pat was a 1954 graduate of Wiley High School and received his bachelor’s degree in business from Indiana University in 1958, where he met his wife to be, Randy. They were married May 23, 1959 in the Notre Dame Cathedral on the campus of Notre Dame.

He served on the First Financial Corporation Board of Directors since 1973, and was president of Terre Haute Concrete Supply Corporation until its sale in 1984. Pat also served as executive director of Terre Haute Alliance for Growth and Progress from 1987 to 1993. Pat was involved in many charitable and civic organizations. He served as president of the Downtown Rotary Club, Terre Haute Area Chamber of Commerce, Terre Haute Committee for Area Progress, and Mid-West Ready Mixed Concrete Association. He also served as chairman of Indiana Manufacturer’s Association and Wabash Valley Board of Associates of Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. Pat was past director of the Indiana Savings and Loan Association and National Ready Mixed Concrete Association.

Other directorships included Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College Board of Trustees, Indiana Concrete Council, Indiana Savings and Loan, St. Anthony’s Hospital School of Nursing, and Indiana Labor-Management Commission. In addition, he held memberships in the following organizations, Elk’s Club, Aero Club, Wabash Valley Homebuilders Association, Associated Building Contractors Association of Terre Haute, Associated General Contractors of Indiana, United Way of the Wabash Valley, and Indiana State University Sycamore Varsity Club. He served in the 604 MP Battalion Army Reserves, and was particularly dedicated to the Terre Haute Boys and Girls First Fishing Club, which he founded in 1999. Pat had a love of travel, fishing, watching the Kentucky Derby, Indy 500, Olympics, World Series, and numerous other sporting events. He spent countless hours attending his son’s and grandchildren’s various sports and activities.

Pat was a member of St. Benedict Church. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Nancy Randolph Wellington O’Leary; four sons, Pat, Jeff, Tom and Mike; four daughters-in-law, Julie, Deb, Stacy and Amy; and nine grandchildren, Patrick Marc, Dan, Chris, Matt, Samantha, Nick, Alli, Caitlyn and Jake.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 12:05 p.m. Tuesday, May 13, 2008, in St. Benedict Church, 111 S. Ninth St., with Father Joel Burget officiating. Public visitation will also be in St. Benedict Church and will take place on today from 3 to 7 p.m. Private burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 S. 25th St.

The family kindly requests that donations in Pat’s memory be made to St. Benedict Church, 111 S. Ninth St., Terre Haute, IN 47807; or to Terre Haute Boys and Girls First Fishing Club, 220 N. Third St., Terre Haute, IN 47807.
