Suzanne “Suzie” Cox Hendrix, 63, of Terre Haute died at 10:40 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 11, 2007, in her residence. She was born April 21, 1943,in Terre Haute to Randal Cox and Elizabeth R. Roesch Cox. She was employed by Providence Medical Center.
Survivors include a daughter, Kimberly Sappington and husband Stephen of Terre Haute; a son, Scott Hendrix and wife Dawna of Newburgh; special friend and loving companion, James Joseph; two sisters, Ellen Cox Cummings and husband Dallas of Fairfield Glade, Tenn., and Rose Mary Cox McDowell and husband Bruce of Elkhart; she was called MiMi Suzie by her grandchildren, Dru Sappington, Luke Sappington, Emma Sappington, Abby Hendrix and Adam Hendrix; James’ children, Sue and James Joseph, Diana Joseph, and Gary and Helen Joseph, and their children, Gary Michael Joseph and Brianna Joseph; and several nieces and nephews.
She was a member of the Red Hat Society and the Moose Lodge. She loved dancing, especially line dancing, card games and cooking. Mostly she loved her kids, grandkids and friends.
Services are 11 a.m. Thursday in DeBaun Springhill Chapel, 85 E. Springhill Drive, with Hoyte Wilhelm officiating. Burial is in Roselawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers are Dru Sappington, Luke Sappington, Pete Cummings, Gary Joseph, James Joseph, and Greg Ewing. Honorary pallbearers are Randal McDowell, Bruce McDowell and Dallas Cummings. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.
The family suggests that, memorial contributions be made to either Special Olympics or the League of Terre Haute.
