Shirley A. Brett, 85, of Terre Haute, died at 4:29 a.m. Saturday, July 4, 2009. Born Oct. 19, 1923, in Connersville. She was the daughter of Arthur V. Payne and Evan (Stevens) Payne. She was retired from Citizens Bank of both Lafayette and Terre Haute. She was the widow of the Rev. William E. Brett, who served with the United Methodists throughout Indiana. He preceded her in death on Sept. 2, 1998.

Lucy Ann Bundy, 86, of Terre Haute, passed away Wednesday, July 1, 2009, in Southwood Health and Rehabilitation Center, where she had been a resident for her last years. She was born June 20, 1923, in Evanston, Ill. She was a homemaker, a dedicated wife, and devoted, loving mother.

Raymond E. Hamilton, 84, of Terre Haute, died at 6:49 p.m. Friday, July 3, 2009, at Terre Haute Regional Hospital’s emergency room. Born in Terre Haute on Dec. 26, 1924, he was the son of Ray and Fay (Moody) Hamilton. He was a retired electrician with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 725, where he had been a member for many, many years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served in both World War II and the Korean War.

William J. “Bill” Hopton, 62, of Terre Haute, passed away Thursday, July 2, 2009. He was born Feb. 4, 1947, in Terre Haute. He was the owner of Laughrey Brothers Roofing in Terre Haute, and the former owner of Lincoln Park Speedway in Greencastle.
