TERRE HAUTE —
Lane restrictions in construction zones along Interstate 70 in Indiana will be lifted as of noon today for the Labor Day holiday weekend.
Debbie Calder of the Indiana Department of Transportation confirmed that all lanes will be open where possible Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Road work will resume Tuesday.
Heading west into Illinois, a lane improvement project on I-70 is underway starting at the Indiana state line. The Illinois Department of Transportation has announced that all non-emergency road work has been suspended where possible to reduce congestion and improve traffic flow during the holiday weekend. That work suspension will begin at 3 p.m. today and continue through midnight Monday.
As always, motorists are reminded to slow down, obey posted speed limits and drive with caution through work zones.
