NEW GOSHEN —
One man was injured late Wednesday afternoon after losing control of his pickup on U.S. 150 near New Goshen, crossed the highway and hit a house in the 9700 block of North Beech Place.
The man was driving east on U.S. 150 about 5 p.m. when “he lost control of his vehicle for unknown reasons,” said Terry Meadlo, New Goshen assistant fire chief.
The pickup crossed U.S. 150, went up a hill and through some bushes, across Beech Place and then hit the house, which had damage to is bedroom and basement walls.
No one was home at the time of the accident, according to a relative of the occupant. The impact left a gap in the wall, enough that sunlight could be seen through it, the relative said.
The driver, who had head lacerations and complained of back pain, was transported to a hospital, although he was conscious and alert, Meadlo said.
The man’s name and condition were not immediately available.
The Vigo County Sheriff’s Department, West Terre Haute Police and New Goshen Fire Department responded.
