Driver walks away after truck flips near Pimento

Slowing traffic on highway led to accident

TERRE HAUTE — A Sullivan County man walked away from a one-vehicle crash Wednesday afternoon near the Sullivan-Vigo county line.

According to the Indiana State Police, Robert Eble, 79, Sullivan, was driving south on U.S. 41 in the Pimento area when a vehicle in front of him ran out of gas. That vehicle slowed, causing other vehicles to slow in front of Eble’s Chevrolet Silverado pickup. Eble drove to his left, entered the median and his truck overturned, coming to rest on its top.

Eble was taken to a Terre Haute hospital after the crash, but he was up and walking at the scene when emergency responders arrived, according to the ISP.

Southbound traffic on U.S. 41 was reduced to a single lane temporarily after the crash, which took place shortly after 2 p.m.
