Thursday final day to register for Homeland Security/Public Safety course

TERRE HAUTE — Vincennes University is offering the first of two Homeland Security and Public Safety Community Academies at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Vigo County Public Library, Seventh and Poplar streets.

Thursday, March 20, 2014, is the final day to register.

The second community academy begins at 10 a.m. March 29 at the Evansville Vanderburgh Public Library (Central Library), 200 S.E. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Evansville.

These presentations are designed to bring awareness about topics related to homeland security and public safety. Some of the topics to be discussed include: border security, the intelligence community, active shooters, weapons of mass destruction, emergency preparedness, international terrorism and domestic terrorism.

The presenters will be four-year students enrolled in the Homeland Security and Public Safety baccalaureate degree program at Vincennes University.

The community academies are free and open to the public. Registration is required for the event. Registration forms are available by contacting the Eta Sigma Iota Homeland Security Professional Society at EtaSigIota@gmail.com or by visiting www.vinu.edu.
