INDOT to discuss U.S. 40 upgrades in Brazil

BRAZIL — Indiana Department of Transportation and Gradex Inc. personnel will discuss a pending upgrade of U.S. 40 through Brazil at an informational meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday in the council room at Brazil City Hall, 203 E. National Ave.

The U.S. 40 pavement replacement project was awarded to Gradex for $19.7 million. Utility relocation has been ongoing over the winter months, and construction will begin in early April. Officials will also present the construction schedule for this year and what will continue next year. The road project is scheduled to be completed by Nov. 15, 2015.

The project includes replacement of the pavement on U.S. 40, from Indiana 340 to Walmart and on Indiana 340 from Waterworks to U.S. 40. The drainage will be improved with new storm drainage structures, curbs and gutters. New sidewalks will be constructed with ADA compliant curb ramps throughout the project.
