Indy man killed in van/motorcycle collision

Driver arrested on multiple charges

TERRE HAUTE — An Indianapolis man was killed in a two-vehicle accident on Illinois Route 1 in Crawford County about 6:30 p.m. Friday, according to Illinois State Police.

Walter Scriff, 47, of Indianapolis, who was riding a motorcycle, died from injuries sustained in the accident. He was not wearing a helmet.

Joyce Holdiman, 28, of Robinson, who drove a minivan, was arrested for driving under the influence of drugs; failure to wear a seatbelt; failure to yield while turning left; and aggravated DUI, according to police.

The accident occurred on Route 1 at County Road 1425 North.

According to police, Holdiman was driving north on Route 1 and turning left onto County Road 1425 North; the driver did not see the motorcycle traveling south on Route 1. The motorcycle that struck the minivan in the passenger side rear door area.

Holdiman was not injured in the crash, and two other passengers were not injured. A third passenger, Joshua Tracy, 29, of Robinson, was taken to Crawford Memorial Hospital. He had not been wearing a seatbelt.

Tracy was cited for illegal transportation of alcohol, according to police.
