TERRE HAUTE — A Terre Haute teenager has pleaded guilty to a class-B felony child neglect charge that was waived into adult court in 2012.

Jesse James Weir, 18, appeared Friday in Vigo Superior Court 3, where he pled guilty to neglect of a dependent resulting in serious bodily injury. A Feb. 27 sentencing date was set.

The plea deal calls for a prison term of 10 years, with four years executed on in-home detention and six years suspended to probation.

Weir was arrested in connection with injuries to an infant, who was hospitalized with fractures to her skull and ribs, as well as numerous other injuries.

Because Weir was a juvenile at the time of his arrest, the case was originally filed in juvenile court but later waived to adult court.

The plea agreement also calls for Weir to receive credit for 251 days already served in jail, in addition to good time credit, for a total of 502 days applied toward his sentence.
