Principals of the year for Vigo to be honored

TERRE HAUTE — The Indiana Association of School Principals in November will recognize three principals from the Vigo County School Corp.

Selected for recognition from IASP District 8 are:

• Christopher Mauk, principal at Terre Haute South Vigo High School, 2013 High School Principal;

• Tamera Rowshandel, principal of Otter Creek Middle School, 2013 Middle School Principal; and

• Susan Mardis, former principal at Deming Elementary and current principal at Woodrow Wilson Middle School, 2013 Elementary School Principal.

District 8 is located in west-central Indiana and is made up of Clay, Greene, Hendricks, Owen, Parke, Putnam, Sullivan, Vermillion and Vigo counties.

The recognition ceremony is a part of the 2013 Principals of the Year Recognition Celebration, a part of IASP’s annual Fall Professional Conference on Nov. 24.

District principals of the year are elected by their peers. One principal is honored from each grade level — elementary, middle school and high school — in each of the 12 districts. From these 12 district winners, one principal is chosen from each grade level as the 2013 State High School Principal of the Year. The state winners will be announced at the award celebration.

The Indiana Association of School Principals is a not-for-profit, professional association serving more than 2,100 building-level administrators in Indiana.
