TERRE HAUTE — The Wabash Valley district of the Crossroads of America Council Boy Scouts will host a Cub Scout Fun Day today and Saturday at Lawton Byrum VFW Post 972 Recreational Area.

The event, expected to draw 400 to 500 people to the site at 8170 Indiana 159, offers Cub Scouts an opportunity to experience fishing, BB guns, archery and other day camp activities.

The Novelis Terre Haute plant, which has signed on as a partner of the event as part of Novelis Global Neighbor Month of Service, will host a science area that will include a weather balloon launch at 9 a.m. Saturday. Camping, including a campfire program, will be offered at 8 p.m. tonight.

“Novelis Terre Haute is excited to be partnering with the Cub Scouts to help kids see how fun science can be through hands-on experiences,” said Kim Marlow, Human Resources Manager and Novelis Neighbor Site Champion. “Our employees will launch a high altitude weather balloon and provide catapults for Scouts to learn about physics in a very fun way.”
