---- — Two people were hurt Tuesday afternoon in a two-vehicle accident that occurred on Interstate 70 just east of Indiana 59 in Clay County.

Jerry E. Roberts, 50, Indianapolis, was driving a car west on I-70 and struck the rear of a car driven by Leigha N. Horvath, 21, Coatsville, according to Indiana State Police. The impact forced the vehicles off the north side of the roadway, and Roberts’ vehicle overturned.

Witnesses had reported Roberts’ vehicle may have been speeding and weaving in and out of traffic before the crash, police said.

Both drivers were transported to Terre Haute Regional Hospital for treatment, Roberts for facial lacerations and Horvath for neck and back pain.

Roberts was cited for reckless driving, unsafe lane movement and following too close, according to state police.

The passing lane remained open, but the driving lane was closed for nearly one hour for crash investigation and clean-up.
