TERRE HAUTE —
Vigo County law enforcement’s response Tuesday resulted in the apprehension of two juveniles reported missing from the Gibault campus south of Terre Haute.
According to Clark Cottom, chief deputy of the Vigo County Sheriff’s Office, the department received a call at approximately 10:57 a.m. from Gibault Inc., reporting two males missing from the campus. Evidence was found that a group of four was initially going to try to escape, but two of the four were detained on Gibault property.
Sheriff’s officials searched the Honey Creek area and near a shopping area for the remaining two. The search was called off after 90 minutes, but units kept monitoring the area.
At approximately 12:30 p.m., police got a call from a medical clinic in the 4700 block of South Seventh Street that reported two juveniles were in the area.
Sheriff’s officers and Gibault staff responded to the area and detained one of the juveniles outside the clinic. The other juvenile fled to inside the offices, where he was found behind an exam room door.
The two teens were transported to the Vigo County Juvenile Center.
Gibault officials did not have a comment about the incident.
