Local pastor honored with 2013 Indiana Black Expo Governor’s Award

TERRE HAUTE — Senior pastor and district elder Arnick Shouse I, a Terre Haute native, has been selected as one of the 2013 Indiana Black Expo Governor’s Award Recipients.

Recipients were nominated based on their accomplishments in business and entrepreneurship, community service, civic leadership and cultural heritage.

Shouse has been the pastor of Rapture Temple Ministries for 14 years and he is a district elder of the Pentecostal Churches of the Apostolic Faith. In addition, he is the assistant chair of the Indiana State Council of the Pentecostal Churches of the Apostolic Faith and is the spokesman and director for the Midwest segment of the Stop the Violence Movement. He is a basketball coach for a local elementary school girl’s team, and performs many other volunteer functions throughout the community and state.

He will attend the Governor’s Reception at 2 p.m. today at the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis to receive his IBE Award.

In addition, Shouse, along with his ministry staff and youth department leaders, were invited to join Gov. Mike Pence and “Walk a Mile with Mike” at  8:30 a.m. Wednesday in Terre Haute. The walk will begin at the 14th and Chestnut Community Center at 1403 Chestnut.
