Camp Invention still has openings; scholarships available

TERRE HAUTE — Openings remain, and scholarships are still available, for Camp Invention at Indiana State University.

Camp Invention reinforces and supplements school-year learning in the subjects of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM).

Week Two, called Camp Spark II, begins July 22 and runs from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. daily.

In the Wild and Wondrous Innovations and Living Designs module, children will venture on a wild animal excursion to investigate the most innovative survival traits on the planet. In the Bounce, an Atomic Journey module, children will bounce their way through atoms, molecules, mixtures, and compounds to discover the science behind bouncy balls.

In “I Can Invent,” children will take apart broken or unused appliances using real tools and re-engineer the gears to invent an incredible invention.

Finally, in the Geo-Games module, children will play games with a new twist from around the world.

The program is for children entering grades 1 through 6. Tim Moss and Pat Wheeler are the camp directors.

The base price is $220 per week if you register online at campinvention.org.  However, families may contact Moss at t81@aol.com or at 812-201-7993 to apply for a scholarship to reduce the cost of camp.

Duke Energy has provided funding for scholarships.
