Chamber takes Groundhog Day look at forecast

Indiana Secretary of Commerce to give keynote at annual economic panel

TERRE HAUTE — On Tuesday, the Terre Haute Chamber of Commerce will host its annual Ground Hog Day Economic Forecast. This year’s keynote speaker will be Victor Smith, Secretary of Commerce for the State of Indiana.

The breakfast event will be in the DEDE Activity Center in Room I at Indiana State University.

Smith, the keynote speaker, is a member of Gov. Mike Pence’s cabinet and leads the state’s domestic and international economic development agenda.

Before being appointed in January 2013, the Muncie native had a 17-year career in operations, sales and executive positions, including chief executive officer of CDS Engineering, a precision manufacturing company with locations in the United States, United Kingdom and Asia.

The panelists include Dr. Robert Guell, professor of economics at ISU; Gerry Dick, host and creator of Inside Indiana Business Television; and Brian Conley, owner and president of Conley Real Estate Appraisals, Inc., a real estate appraisal office in Terre Haute.

Doors open at 6:30 a.m. The program will begin at 7:10 a.m. Parking is available in the lot located at the corner of Chestnut and Fifth Street across from the DEDE Activity Center.
