Woman has April trial for altering crime scene

TERRE HAUTE — A Terre Haute woman accused of altering a crime scene has an April 17 trial.

Rhonda Reynolds, 53, appeared Thursday in Vigo Superior Court 1 where Judge John Roach appointed attorney Christopher Shema as her public defender.

She has been formally charged with altering the scene of a death and obstructing justice, both of which are class-D felonies. The charges result from her alleged actions last Friday when she allegedly tried to alter the scene of a death by cleaning up blood and the area around the body of a man who was shot in her basement. The information filed in court also states that she obstructed justice by trying to remove the body of Ronald Arrowsmith from her home, and that she took a substantial step in doing that by wrapping the body in a blanket and a tarp and then tying it up.

Police found the body of Arrowsmith, who had been shot in the head, when they responded to Reynolds’ residence after receiving a call from Arrowsmith’s girlfriend.

Meanwhile, Amber Reynolds, 33, did not appear in court Thursday as originally scheduled, but will appear this morning for filing of formal charges. She was arrested along with her mother-in-law, Rhonda Reynolds, at the homicide scene.

Terre Haute Police are investigating the shooting death, and are seeking suspects who allegedly fled the area.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call THPD at 812-238-1661.
