Chamber still taking nominations

TERRE HAUTE — The Terre Haute Chamber of Commerce is accepting nominations for the 2013 Business Recognition Awards.

The awards include: Small Business of the Year, Fast-Growing Business, Green Business and Healthy Workplace Business. Nominations are being accepted now through 5 p.m. March 31.

To nominate a business, visit Awards will be presented during the Chamber’s Business Recognition Week, which coincides with National Small Business Week, May 12-16.

“It’s a great way to honor our local businesses that work so hard every day to make this community great,” said Kristin Craig, the Chamber’s interim executive director. “We really enjoy having an opportunity to give them the recognition they so greatly deserve.”

Jeanette Winchester, who chairs the Chamber board this year, said that in 2011, her business, Simple to Elegant, received the Small Business of the Year Award.

She described it as an incredible honor not only for herself, but also for her entire staff and the tireless work they do to make the business a success.

“The prestige of being nominated, then selected as the top Small Business in Terre Haute, is something I have not forgotten,” Winchester said. “As this year’s chair, I am very excited to be a part of these prestigious Chamber awards and would encourage everyone to nominate themselves or someone they think is especially deserving.”

Nominations should be submitted based upon accomplishments achieved in 2013. The top three nominees are selected by a local committee, then sent to Chamber executives in other communities for final selection of the winner.

For additional information regarding these nominations, contact Mary Riley, director of networking and member programs at or 812-232-2391.

Award criteria are included on the Chamber website, and all nominees must be Chamber members. The awards have been presented since 2006.
