Merom Water being acquired by Indiana American Water

----

MEROM — Merom Water, a municipal water utility with approximately 125 customers, has been acquired by Indiana American Water, the company announced on Tuesday.

“The acquisition of this system will provide Merom customers with lower rates and access to operations and capital management water professionals and a convenient customer service center that is available 24/7,” Indiana American president Alan DeBoy stated in a news release.

The acquisition of the Merom system for approximately $390,000 was approved by the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission in January 2014 and finalized by Indiana American Water and Merom Water on Monday.

The Merom system will be incorporated into the company’s Terre Haute/Sullivan operating district, which currently serves approximately 85,000 residents.

Indiana American Water crews are working this week to replace all customer water meters throughout the system. The process will take approximately one week to complete

Customers are scheduled to receive their first bills from Indiana American Water later in March or in early April. They also will be receiving a final water bill from the Town of Merom for usage before the acquisition. Payment for this final bill should be returned to Merom.

Customers can contact Indiana American Water with any questions about service or billing/payment issues at 800-492-8373. More information on the company’s billing and payment options is available online at www.indiana
