TERRE HAUTE — No one was seriously injured in a two vehicle crash involving a van full of children Wednesday near Honey Creek Mall.

The van overturned, but only one child received minor injuries, according to a Terre Haute Fire Department emergency responder at the scene. The driver was also injured, but none of the injuries appeared life threatening, he said.

There had been about five or six primary school-age children in the van, which was associated with a daycare, the fire official said. The children were outside of the van sitting in the grass as firefighters worked the scene and others kept the children calm.

It was not immediately clear what caused the crash, which took place about 3:30 p.m. on South Third Place behind H.H. Gregg.

The Terre Haute Police Department, Trans Care and the Honey Creek Fire Department also responded to the crash.
