Man sentenced on anhydrous charge

TERRE HAUTE — A man indicted for supplying the gun used in the July 2011 shooting death of a Terre Haute police officer has been sentenced on unrelated charges in Vigo Superior Court 6.

Brad “Pappy” Keller, 49, pleaded guilty to illegal possession of anhydrous ammonia, a class-D felony, during a hearing Wednesday afternoon.

Judge Michael Lewis sentenced Keller to 276 days in jail, which amounted to time already served in the case. Keller was returned to federal custody, where he is serving an 18-month sentence with a projected release date of Feb. 15, 2013.

An investigation into the shooting of Terre Haute Police officer Brent Long revealed that the gun used in the shooting was supplied by Keller to a person who later traded the gun for drugs. Keller was one of seven people indicted in the federal investigation.
