Police investigate First Avenue shooting death

TERRE HAUTE — A man was found dead at a Terre Haute home Friday night, authorities said, and two women were arrested for preliminary charges of obstruction of justice.

The Terre Haute Police Department said the name of the deceased is being withheld pending identification and family notification.

Rhonda S. Reynolds, 53, and Amber M. Reynolds, 33, were arrested on preliminary charges of obstruction of justice related to altering the crime scene, police said.

Both females live at the residence, police said.

Police responded to the 2200 block of First Avenue at approximately 8:02 p.m. Friday, regarding a report of a possible homicide, authorities said.

The THPD issued a release stating that upon officers’ arrival, they were told that a male had been shot and was deceased in the basement.

After clearing the residence, officers discovered the body of a white male lying on the basement floor of the residence, whom the Terre Haute Fire Department later determined to be deceased, police said.

According to police, one female at the scene was transported to Union Hospital with a head injury and later taken to the Terre Haute Police Department to issue a statement.

Detectives are still investigating the incident and have asked for anyone with information to contact the Terre Haute Police Department.
