WEST TERRE HAUTE — Indiana State Police detectives are currently investigating the death of two persons found late Saturday night on private property near U.S. 150 and Pennington Road in northwestern Vigo County, authorities said.

The bodies are partially decomposed, but appear to be those of an adult male and adult female who have been deceased for a few days, according to ISP. Investigators believe the male and female were in a relationship prior to their death. There is also no threat to public safety in the area, police said.

According to ISP, the bodies were found around 10 p.m by individuals riding an ATV in the area. The bodies were located  approximately 150 yards south of Pennington Road, under a small bridge on a driveway that led to an abandoned residence at 7400 W. Pennington Road.

A white 1997 Ford pickup was found at the scene and is believed to belong to one of the victims.

Autopsies are scheduled for tomorrow.
