TERRE HAUTE — A sign in front of the United Cerebral Palsy of the Wabash Valley (far right) on Poplar Street lets those passing by on Monday know that a volunteer effort to restore brick work at the agency was under way — and appreciated.

In photos at right, Justin McCarter of Marshall, Ill., an apprentice with the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers Local 4 of Indiana and Kentucky, spreads mortar between the bricks of a wall near the entrance.

Also, Susie Thompson, executive director of United Cerebral Palsy of the Wabash Valley, talks with Jerry Stevens as he and McCarter ply their trade to help strengthen the wall.

And union members Joe Konerman, Stevens and McCarter tuck point new mortar into a wall.
