TERRE HAUTE —
A Terre Haute man has been arrested for an armed robbery that occurred Wednesday in the 1200 block of Locust Street.
Kevin Brown, 22, appeared Friday morning in Vigo Superior Court 1, where Judge John Roach found probable cause for his arrest.
Detective Troy Davis of the Terre Haute Police Department testified that he investigated the theft of more than $200 from an employee at a Marathon gas station on Locust Street. The employee said that Brown came into the store and asked the employee to accompany him to the back of the store. Brown was armed with a gun, but he did not ask for any of the store’s money, the alleged victim reported.
Davis said he reviewed in-store video that showed the suspect enter the business and confront the alleged victim. Davis said he recognized the suspect from past investigations.
Brown has pleaded guilty to a 2010 burglary, and also has several prior arrests in illinois.
Brown is to return to court Oct. 9 for filing of formal charges. Judge Roach set his bail at $50,000, with no 10 percent allowed.
