Woman arrested after selling relatives truck without permission

TERRE HAUTE — A Terre Haute woman faces a charge of auto theft after being arrested for selling a relative’s vehicle without permission.

Nancy Isham, 30, appeared Wednesday in Vigo Superior Court 3 where Senior Judge Michael Eldred found probable cause for her arrest.

Officer David Garland of the Terre Haute Police Department reported that police were contacted Monday by a woman who said that her nephew’s 1992 Chevrolet S10 had been stolen from a residence on Thompson Street. A neighbor reportedly saw the truck being loaded onto a wrecker and removed.

The woman reported that she then contacted a man who said he bought the truck for $200 from Isham, who said she would mail him the title later.

Garland said he contacted Isham about the truck, and she told him that she needed money and knew that the truck had been parked behind a residence for an extended time, so she contacted a person she knew who buys scrap vehicles, and that man gave her $200 for the truck. Garland arrested Isham for auto theft.

Judge Eldred set a May 20 hearing date in the case, and ordered her released from the Vigo County Jail on her own recognizance.
