TERRE HAUTE — United Way of the Wabash Valley is seeking to mobilize 350 volunteers for a June 14 Day of Action.

Troy Fears, executive director of the United Way, said the idea is to help any United Way agency or any non-profit organization complete a project, whether it is painting, landscaping or clearing out a storage area.

“It is a way for us to give back to the community by working four hours, from 8 a.m. to noon, and is a way for companies to bring employees out and give back to the community as a team,” Fears said.

Agencies have until May 20 to submit requests for work projects. Requests can be sent to Dylan Riggen at dylan.riggen@local.united

The projects can be done in Vigo, Clay, Vermillion, Sullivan and Parke counties in Indiana, and Clark County in Illinois based on volunteer response. All non-profit or United Way agencies are to provide materials needed for a project, such as paint brushes or rakes, while the volunteers provide the labor, Fears said.
